Betty Golightly

Betty Golightly, BScPhm, graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta and has practiced in retail-based pharmacy for most of her 20 year career. For over a decade, she has worked to combine her passions for travel and medicine. Betty has a Foundation in Travel Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow). In 2006, Betty successfully challenged the International Society of Travel Medicine “Certificate of Knowledge Examination” and was one of the first pharmacists in Alberta to be “Authorized to Administer Medications by Injection”.

After several years of sufficiently honing the skills necessary to effectively run a pre-travel health centre, Betty opened her first clinic. “Go Travel Health” offers pre-travel consultations and immunization services. In addition to her practice at Go Travel Health Inc., she is a part-time Instructor in the Pharmacy Assistant Program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Polytechnic (SAIT-Polytechnic). As well, she co-facilitates the Injection Course for Pharmacists (Calgary). Betty has been a member of the Alberta Association of Travel Health Professionals since 1998 and a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine since 2003.
